The Sanitary Pneumatic 2-Piece Butterfly Valve is available with 304L or 316L stainless steel product-contact parts and EPDM as the standard sealing material, with FPM, silicone, and NBR available as options. The pneumatic actuator provides 90° rotary movement for opening and closing, while NC, NO, and double-acting configurations allow the operating mode to be selected according to the process and safety requirements.
With Tri-Clamp, welded, threaded, clamp, and flange connection options, the AVM valve can be configured for different sanitary piping systems. It is suitable for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food and beverage, dairy, cosmetics, fine chemical, and other clean-process applications.

The valve uses a compact two-piece body with smooth product-contact surfaces to reduce material retention and simplify cleaning. 304L and 316L stainless steel options are available for product-contact components, with an EN 10204 3.1B certificate available according to the selected configuration. The internal surface finish can reach Ra ≤0.8 μm.
The pneumatic actuator converts compressed-air movement into 90° rotary motion, enabling rapid and repeatable valve operation. It can be connected to PLC and other process control systems for remote opening, closing, and monitoring. Control air pressure is specified at 5–8 bar.
The disc and elastomer seat are designed to maintain sealing during repeated operating cycles. EPDM is the standard sealing material, while FPM, silicone, and NBR can be selected according to the process medium and operating conditions. The actuator provides the required closing torque as the disc reaches the sealing position.
The Sanitary Pneumatic 2-Piece Butterfly Valve can be supplied as normally closed, normally open, or double acting. This allows users to select the valve response when the air supply changes or is interrupted. A manual multi-position handle is also available for installations where local adjustment is required.
The valve controls the process medium through a disc mounted on the valve shaft. The pneumatic actuator rotates the shaft through approximately 90°.
When the valve is fully open, the disc is positioned in the direction of the pipeline, allowing the process medium to pass through. As the actuator rotates the disc toward the closed position, the available flow area decreases. When the disc reaches the closed position, it contacts the elastomer seat and blocks the pipeline.
For a normally closed configuration, the spring returns the valve to the closed position when pneumatic pressure is removed. For a normally open configuration, the spring returns the valve toward the open position. A double-acting actuator uses compressed air for both opening and closing.
The valve opens when compressed air is supplied and returns to the closed position through spring force when air pressure is removed. This configuration can be used where the process requires automatic flow isolation during loss of pneumatic supply.
The valve closes when compressed air is supplied and returns toward the open position when the air supply is removed. This configuration can be selected when maintaining process flow is preferred during a pneumatic failure.
Compressed air controls both opening and closing movements. This configuration provides consistent actuator force in both directions and is suitable for automated production systems with regular cycling requirements.
A multi-position locking handle can be installed where local flow adjustment is required. The operator can select fully open, fully closed, or intermediate positions without requiring a pneumatic control system.
This configuration is useful for sections of a process line that require occasional manual intervention, commissioning adjustment, or maintenance isolation.
AVM Sanitary Pneumatic 2-Piece Butterfly Valve can be used in pharmaceutical and biotechnology process piping for liquid transfer, buffer preparation, bioreactor systems, sterile process lines, CIP systems, and high-purity fluid handling. The stainless steel product-contact construction and available sanitary surface finish are suitable for applications where cleaning and contamination control are important.
Typical applications include dairy processing, milk and yogurt production, beverage processing, juice production, brewery systems, and food ingredient transfer. Pneumatic operation allows the valve to be integrated into automated transfer and processing lines.
The valve can be used for shampoo, lotion, cream, and other liquid or semi-liquid product processing. The sanitary construction supports routine cleaning and helps reduce product accumulation within the process pipeline.
Applications include fine chemical liquid transfer, clean utility systems, hygienic liquid distribution, and process-fluid control where stainless steel construction and repeatable automated operation are required.
The main components include a sanitary two-piece valve body, stainless steel disc, valve shaft, elastomer sealing system, and pneumatic actuator. Optional intelligent controllers, solenoid valves, position sensors, and NPN/PNP limit position sensors can be added according to the automation requirements of the process system.

When selecting an AVM sanitary pneumatic butterfly valve, the buyer should confirm the pipeline size, connection standard, product-contact material, seal material, operating pressure, temperature, control-air pressure, and required actuator mode.
For CIP/SIP systems, the selected sealing material should be checked against the actual cleaning chemicals, process temperature, and sterilization cycle. For automated equipment, the actuator configuration and optional position-control accessories should be specified together with the valve.
The connection standard should also match the existing sanitary piping system. Selecting the correct connection at the procurement stage helps avoid additional adapters or pipeline modification during installation.
Before ordering, the valve should be selected according to the pipeline size, connection standard, process medium, working pressure, operating temperature, seal material, and required pneumatic operating mode. For automated systems, the required control accessories should also be confirmed.
For hygienic applications using CIP or SIP, the seal material and sterilization temperature should be checked against the actual cleaning cycle. For pneumatic installations, a control air pressure of 5–8 bar is specified for this series.
The main selection difference for this valve is not simply valve size. The pneumatic operating mode, sanitary connection, sealing material, and surface treatment can directly affect how the valve performs within the complete process system.
For example, a pharmaceutical line may prioritize 316L product-contact parts, appropriate elastomer selection, hygienic surface treatment, and CIP/SIP compatibility, while a food processing line may place greater emphasis on connection compatibility and frequent automated cycling. Selecting the valve according to the complete process conditions helps avoid unnecessary replacement or modification after installation.
AVM's standard production lead time is generally 2–4 weeks, depending on order quantity, valve specifications, connection configuration, and material availability. The delivery schedule should be confirmed before ordering, particularly for urgent or customized requirements.
The standard payment arrangement is 30% deposit and 70% balance before shipment by T/T or L/C. Small-value orders may require full payment before production. Specific terms can be confirmed according to the order.
The valve is protected with suitable packaging for international transportation. Paper and wooden cases can be used to help protect the stainless steel valve body, connection ends, actuator, and other components during handling and shipment.
Yes. Depending on the automation requirements, the valve can be configured with an intelligent controller, solenoid valve, position sensor, or NPN/PNP limit position sensors. The required accessories should be specified when ordering.
EPDM is the standard seal material, while FPM, silicone, and NBR are available options. Selection should be based on the process medium, operating temperature, cleaning chemicals, and sterilization conditions rather than using the same seal material for every application.
